The Life Coaching Con

Why did someone like Tom Mitchelson not tell me before that I need not have spent years gaining management & training & life experience before I felt adequately capable of being a good coach?

Why did they not tell me that I need not have spent 2 years studying for an Advanced Diploma nor waste my time taking the Business Link mentoring Course- according to Tom I could have earnt £130 an hour(oh goody!) without any of that- just a piece of paper that says I completed a 6 day basic course!

Is a 'cowboy' coach the same as a 'cowboy' builder-if these are the standards we are to be judged by both me, all other qualified coaches & all qualified builders are wasting their time trying to do a proper job & give value for money.

Like anything else that involves emotions or stress or the need for support, coaching will always be deemed unnecessary by the few who have such perfect lives that they can sort out everything & have the determination to stick to it without help.Surprise, surprise though most of us are not superhuman & occasionally need help to overcome our problems or to stick to our decisions in the face of distractions. A little encouragement & support can go a long way especially in a crisis & sometimes your closest friends & family cannot provide this without adding their own agenda.there are many hard headed & successful people who have benefitted from coaching support as have many stressed or undecided ordinary mortals.
